BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will have a complete home week with its first match on Wednesday, Mar. 31 at 1:30 p.m. against Alabama State, which will be followed by another match on Friday, Apr. 2 at 1:30 p.m. against conference opponent, Furman University.
The Bulldogs are entering this week with an overall record of 10-8, while Alabama State sits at 5-6 on its season. The Hornets will face Alcorn State before competing against Samford. Furman University has a current record of 15-6 and will face Chattanooga the day before taking the court against the Bulldogs.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
- Natalia De Ugarte was the lone Bulldog to earn back-to-back wins in singles to open up conference play. She found a 6-1, 6-3 over Brianna Gomez from UNCG and a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 victory over ETSU's Alejandra Morales. De Ugarte now holds an overall record of 8-5 at the No. 2 spot this season.
- Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and doubles partner Alexis Lopez have recorded nine wins at the No. 1 spot, while fellow duo Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest also have nine wins this season to lead the Bulldogs at the No. 2 spot.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- Alabama State has seen five wins and six losses this season with one of those losses coming from conference opponent, Mercer University. The Bears defeated the Hornets by a final decision of 6-1 in early February.
- Madalena Andrade leads Alabama State in singles at the No. 1 spot with an overall record of 7-3, while partners, Urska Velec and Bea Acena, have locked in a 5-4 record to be key players in doubles action for the Hornets.
- Furman has captured three-straight wins in conference play with wins over Western Carolina, Wofford, and UNC Greensboro. Katarina Kozarov has dominated her season so far with 16 wins and only one loss at the No. 1 spot in singles competition. She also leads the Paladins in doubles with her partner, Julia Adams, with the duo earning a record of 15-2 at the No. 1 spot.
