BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Both the Samford men's and women's tennis teams will be hosting the 2021 Southern Conference Tournament this weekend with the semifinals taking place on Friday, Apr. 23 and both championships on Saturday, Apr. 24 at the Hoover Met Complex.
The Samford men's tennis team ended it regular season with an overall record of 13-7, 6-1 (SoCon), while the women's team closed out its season at 14-10, 4-3 (SoCon). Both teams will face the Furman Paladins in the semifinals with the men's team being listed as the No. 2 seed and the women's team as the No. 4 seed.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
- Eladio Fabregas captured the most wins in singles competition this season with an overall individual record of 14-5 with 11 of those wins coming from the No. 3 spot. The senior from Galicia, Spain remained undefeated in conference play with his final match of the season being unfinished against ETSU.
- In doubles, Jim Hendrikx and Victor Chaw are a clear threat for the Bulldogs with 13 wins and just one loss this season. The pair dropped their lone match against Furman's Henrik Atlevi and Jake Bhangdia, while having their final match of the season also marked as unfinished against ETSU.
- Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg is a key player for the women's team in singles with an overall record of 16-6, 5-2 (SoCon) at the No. 1 spot. She closed out her season with five straight wins, only falling to ETSU and Furman in conference play.
- Van Rensburg and doubles partner Alexis Lopez lead the Bulldogs on court one in doubles with 14 wins and four losses throughout the entire regular season. The duo has only dropped one match in conference play with a 6-4 loss against Western Carolina's Jacy Smith and Julia Pezzuco.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- The Furman men's tennis team is led in singles play by Ivan Mitric at the No. 1 spot with 12 wins and seven losses on the season. He only dropped two matches in conference play with losses against Samford and Wofford. In doubles, Henrik Atlevi and partner Jake Bhangdia have captured the most wins for the Paladins on court one with an overall record of 7-6, 5-2 (SoCon).
- Julia Adams is a top competitor in singles for the Furman women's tennis team with an individual record of 18-6, 5-1 (SoCon) with her one loss coming from UNCG's Brianna Gomez. Adams also show impressive efforts in doubles with her partner, Katarina Kozarov, as the pair have captured an overall record of 17-3, 4-1 (SoCon) at the No. 1 spot.
