BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After claiming the regular season title this past Saturday, the top seed Samford women's soccer team will now host No. 4 Mercer in the SoCon Tournament Semifinals on Friday, Apr. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with an overall record of 7-1-3, 7-0-2 (SoCon) with Samford only seeing one loss against Ole Miss in late February. In its 2020-21 season, Mercer captured an overall record of 8-9-1, 5-3-0 (SoCon), dropping conference matches against Furman, Samford, and Chattanooga. The Bulldogs defeated Mercer earlier this season by a 2-1 final decision on Samford's home turf.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Kylie Gazza was named this week's SoCon Offensive Player of the Week after the sophomore defender recorded back-to-back goals off set pieces against VMI and UNCG. Gazza has started in all 11 games this season, registering three goals on eight shots and one assist.
- Alyssa Frazier has been a team-leader for Samford behind the attack with three assists and two goals this season, while Audrey Kleiman follows with two assists of her own.
- Morgan McAslan, the junior goalkeeper, has started in all 11 games for the Bulldogs, making 26 saves and allowing just four goals this season. In her 1030:44 minutes in goal, McAslan has posted seven shutouts for Samford.
MERCER QUICK LOOKS:
- The Bears ended their regular season with a 3-1 win against Western Carolina after finding two goals in the first half and one in the opening minutes of the second. Mercer has collected a total of 35 goals in 277 shots while recording 30 assists, 95 saves, and 113 corner kicks this season.
- Ally Fordham leads the Bears offensively with a team-high nine goals after playing in all 18 games, while Kendall Cook has tallied seven goals and team-high six assists for Mercer.
- Jordyn Ebert has started in goal 16 times this season, accumulating a total of 1525:49 minutes between the posts, allowing 20 goals while making 88 saves for the Bears.
