BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host two matches this weekend with its first match against MTSU on Friday, Apr. 9 at 9 a.m. and its second on Sunday, Apr. 11 at 12 p.m. against Wofford at the Samford Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs are looking to get back in the win column after dropping their match to Furman last week for a current overall record of 10-9, 1-2 (SoCon). Middle Tennessee State will enter the weekend with a record of 10-9, while Wofford sits at 9-5, 2-2 (SoCon). The Terriers will compete against Mercer the Saturday before taking on Samford.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
- Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg continues to see success at the No. 1 spot with an overall record of 11-6 in singles for Samford. Van Rensburg and doubles partner Alexis Lopez also led the Bulldogs last weekend with the lone win for Samford after defeating No. 16 Katarina Kozarov and Julia Adams, 6-4, at court one to improve their overall record to 10-3.
- Natalia De Ugarte and Cindy Oest have also produced successful results this season with an overall record of 9-2 at the No. 2 spot. The duos last win came against Laylo Bakhodirova and Emilia Alfaro from ETSU by a final decision of 6-3.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- Middle Tennessee State has a current three-match winning streak after defeating Davidson, Alabama A&M, and Western Kentucky. The Blue Raiders are led in singles play by Lidia Burrows who has captured 12 wins and six losses at the No. 2 spot and one loss at the No. 1 spot this season. In doubles, Burrows and partner Lee Barnard have an overall record of 9-7 with seven of those wins and six losses taking place at court one to lead MTSU.
- Wofford has earned two wins and two losses in Southern Conference play so far this season. The Terriers have captured wins against UNCG and Chattanooga while dropping matches to Furman and ETSU. Lillie Steryous is a top competitor for Wofford with an overall record of 8-3 at the No. 2 spot in singles, while Steryous and doubles partner Jenna Vroman have a 5-5 record at court one.
