HOOVER, Ala. – Samford's
Tyler McManus hit a grand slam in the third inning to lead the Bulldog baseball team to a 6-1 win over Auburn Wednesday evening at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samford jumped on top first when McManus hit a grand slam to left field in the bottom of the third inning to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.
- The Bulldogs added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Brooks Carlson singled to drive in Will David for a 5-0 Samford lead.
- In the sixth inning Samford plated another run when Carlson doubled to right-center field to drive in Taylor Garris to make the score 6-0.
- Auburn plated its lone run on a home run by Kason Howell in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 6-1.
ON THE MOUND
- Jacob Cravey (1-2) pitched 3.0 innings in relief, giving up no runs on one hit and striking out five batters to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- Jack Sokol (1-1) took the loss for the Tigers, tossing 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on one hit.
NOTABLES
- McManus went 2-for-4 with a double, a grand slam and four RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
- Carlson went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for the Bulldogs.
- Max Pinto also had two hits for Samford.
- Howell homered in a 1-for-3 performance for Auburn.
NEXT UP
Samford will play host to UNCG in a key Southern Conference series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are set to play a doubleheader Friday at 2 p.m., and a single game Saturday at 1 p.m.
