EUGENE, Ore. – Samford track and field officially closes 2021 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
 
In the newly renovated Hayward Field, sophomore Justin Stuckey competed in his second NCAA Championships of 2021; having finished sixth at the Indoor Championships with a height of 2.18 meters (7' 1.75"), a mark that earned All-America recognition.
 
Friday, Stuckey missed his first two bids at the height of 2.10 meters (6' 10.75"), but sailed over the bar on his third attempt before clearing the next progression (2.15 meters, 7' 0.5") on his first attempt. At the third height, Stuckey failed to clear 2.20 meters (7' 2.5"), finishing in 15^th place with a mark of 2.15 meters garnering Second Team All-America honors.
 
Stuckey's phenomenal outdoor season included complete dominance in the high jump, winning the individual SoCon title with a leap of 2.19 meters (7' 2.25") and helping lead the Bulldogs to another team crown, as the Dogs swept the men's and women's Outdoor SoCon titles. Stuckey also set a new program record on April 17, posting a mark of 2.21 meters (7' 3") at the War Eagle Invite in Auburn, Ala.
 
The Bulldogs headlined the Southern Conference, claiming all four of the team titles contested in 2021, completing the program's first ever four-peat by securing the men's and women's indoor and outdoor championships. With all the accolades that now call Birmingham home, it is no doubt the Bulldogs will be hungry for more in 2022.
