BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's soccer team will split its week at home and on the road as the Bulldogs host crosstown rival UAB on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. which will be followed by a Sunday night match up against Kennesaw State at 5 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Samford holds a current overall record of 0-1-1 after dropping a 2-1 final decision to the Auburn Tigers and producing a 1-1 draw against Middle Tennessee State last week. UAB holds an overall record of 1-1 after dropping a match to Chattanooga and defeating Kennesaw State for the for the first time in program history. KSU enters the week 0-2 with losses against UNC Charlotte and UAB. The Owls are set to play the College of Charleston the Thursday before taking on the Bulldogs.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Senior Zoe Perrin recorded her first collegiate goal in Samford's 1-1 draw against Middle Tennessee this past Sunday. Despite facing multiple injuries in the past, Perrin is working towards being a key player for the Bulldogs this season both offensively and defensively at the midfield position.
- Kyla Reynolds continues to be an offensive threat for Samford, registering her fourth-career assist in the season-opener against Auburn. The junior forward scored four goals and recorded one assist last season, while also being named to First Team All-SoCon.
- Florida State transfer Alyssa Conarton has shown to be an impressive addition to the Samford backline. The junior defender has started in both contests so far this season, playing the entire 90 minutes against Auburn and all but two minutes against MTSU.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- Ava Martin and Stella Kiss of UAB led the Blazers to a 2-1 victory over Kennesaw State with Martin scoring her first collegiate goal and Kiss executing the game-winning penalty kick.
- UAB has also returned starting goalkeeper Anika Toth, a native of Oakville, Ontario, who logged a total of 1,062 minutes and 42 saves last season for the Blazers. The sophomore made her 2021 season debut against Kennesaw State where she played the entire 90 minutes, allowing one goal and making one save after five shots faced.
- The Owls lost a key offensive piece to their attack, Erin Harris, as the former player graduated from Kennesaw State last year. Harris was the top goal scorer for the Owls last season, tallying a season-high five goals after logging 18 shots on goal.
- Junior Erin Miller scored KSU's first and only goal of the 2021 season against UAB, making it her first goal at the collegiate level. The forward/defender also played a career-high 76 minutes against the Blazers.
