SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore Whitaker Buchanan was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt freshman Emma Donley earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.
 
Buchanan scored a goal and dished out two assists as the Bulldogs earned a pair of SoCon road wins at Furman and Wofford, securing a share of the program's ninth-straight SoCon regular season title. In the 4-0 win at Wofford, she assisted on the second goal of the match in the 17^th minute. In the 2-1 win at Wofford, Buchanan assisted on the goal in the first minute of the match. She then scored a goal of her own on a penalty kick in the 10^th minute to put Samford ahead for good at 2-1.
 
Donley earned a pair of wins in goal for the Bulldogs last week. She posted her third shutout of the season, saving one shot in the 4-0 win at Furman. She saved four shots, allowing just one goal on a penalty kick in the 2-1 win at Wofford.
 
Samford earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming SoCon Tournament. The Bulldogs will host either The Citadel or VMI in the quarterfinals Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. A semifinal game will also be played at Shauna Yelton Field Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission to both games is free.
