GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT CHATTANOOGA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play at the SoCon-leading Chattanooga Mocs Friday evening at 5 p.m. (CT) in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Samford and Chattanooga have met 17 previous times, with Samford holding a 15-1-1 series lead. The teams met twice last season, with Samford winning both contests. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 win at home in the regular-season finale, and then earned a 2-0 win in the first round of the SoCon Tournament.
 
The Bulldogs enter Friday's contest in third place in the SoCon standings with a record of 6-3-4 overall and 2-1-1 in SoCon play. Samford played at VMI last Sunday, earning a 5-0 win over the Keydets. For the season, Samford has been led by Kylie Gazza with four goals and one assist for a total of nine points. Whitaker Buchanan has two goals and three assists for seven points, while Ella Simpson has three goals and one assist, also for seven points.
 
The Samford defense has been stellar again this season. The Bulldogs have allowed more than one goal just once in the regular season in a 2-2 tie with Mercer. Samford head coach Todd Yelton enters this week with 299 career wins. A total of 259 of those wins have come at Samford.
 
Chattanooga enters Friday night's game at the top of the SoCon standings with a mark of 6-3-2 overall and 4-0 in Southern Conference play. Clarissa Salinas has led Chattanooga so far this season with three goals and two assists for a team-high total of eight points. Macenzie Smith has scored two goals and dished out one assist for five points. Caroline Ekern has been the Mocs' main goalkeeper, allowing just 10 goals for a 1.15 goals against average in 785 minutes in goal.
