SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Kenya McQuirter was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Month while
Kate Morgan took home SoCon Defensive Player of the Month honors on Friday.
McQuirter (Mobile, Ala.) led the Bulldogs with 138 kills over nine matches and 32 sets in October, for an average of 4.31 kills per set. The redshirt-junior outside hitter posted a .208 hitting percentage. McQuirter posted 15 or more kills in six matches, including a season-high 21 at Furman on Oct. 8. She took home SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 17.
McQuirter currently ranks second in the SoCon in kills per set (3.87) while ranking first in the league in kills per set against conference opponents (4.33).
Morgan (Waxahachie, Texas) led Samford's defensive efforts with 186 digs in October and a pace of 5.81 digs per set. The sophomore libero was twice named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week in the month, posting 20 or more digs in four matches. She set a career high with 37 digs in a 3-1 win over Western Carolina on Oct. 22.
Morgan sits atop the SoCon in digs per set (4.72), total service aces (42), and aces per set (0.48).
The Bulldogs return to the court for their final two home matches of the 2022 season against Furman on Friday (Nov. 4) and The Citadel on Saturday (Nov. 5).
