Men’s Basketball Back on Road to Face Ragin’ Cajuns Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Men's Basketball team will play its third of five-consecutive road contests on Saturday, Dec. 10 against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

Tip-off from the Cajundome is set for 7:00 p.m. (CST), with the game being streamed live on ESPN+.

Saturday's contest is the 10th meeting between Louisiana and Samford, with the Ragin' Cajuns holding a 9-0 series advantage. It will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Ragin' Cajuns since the 2000-01 season.

The Bulldogs battled tough at UCF their last time out, falling 80-77 to the Knights in overtime. Saturday's game, which featured 11 lead changes and 16 tied scores, marked Samford's second-straight overtime contest.

Jaden Campbell and Jermaine Marshall each scored 15 points in the setback, with Marshall going 13-16 from the free-throw line.

Five different Bulldogs are currently averaging in double figures, with Ques Glover's 13.8 PPG leading the squad. Marshall (12.1 PPG), Campbell (11.5 PPG), Logan Dye (11.3 PPG), and Bubba Parham (10.1 PPG) all bring with them a double-digit scoring average into Saturday.

The Bulldogs come into the contest leading the SoCon in points per game at 85.3. Samford is holding its opponents to 41 percent from the field, a mark that ranks second in the conference

Coach McMillan's squad leads the league in rebounding average at 41 RPG, a mark that ranks 24th in the country. The Bulldogs' rate of 12.8 offensive boards per game also leads the conference.

The Bulldogs have sunk more free throws than any other Division I team in the nation, converting 206 in 10 games for a rate of 20.6 made free throws per game while shooting 74 percent.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (7-1) picked up a 78-77 road win at New Orleans their last time out on Saturday, Dec. 3 . Jalen Dalcourt sank a pair of crucial free throws with 2.5 seconds left in the second half to help secure the victory.

The Ragin' Cajuns are led on offense by Jordan Brown, who is averaging a team-high 18.6 points per game. Greg Williams Jr. (13.6 PPG) and Terence Lewis II (13.5 PPG) both are also averaging in double figures in scoring, with Lewis posting a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game.

Bob Marlin enters his 13th season as Head Coach of the Ragin' Cajuns. He has been at the helm of a squad that has made five postseason appearances, a school-record 27 wins in 2017-18, and a pair of Sun Belt Conference championship.
