BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball teams opens postseason play tomorrow as they face Furman in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs enter as the No. 3 seed in the tournament while Furman is the No. 6 seed. Samford is 18-13 on the season while Furman sits at 19-12.

Samford and Furman are meeting for the 44th time, with the Paladins leading the series 31-12. The Bulldogs and the Paladins are meeting in the first round for the second straight season. Furman ended the Bulldog's season last year, 86-69. This year, Furman went 2-0 against the Dogs. Samford fell by four at home and by five on the road.
 

The Bulldogs are coming off an 87-78 home victory against UNCG on senior night. Jadin Booth tied his career high with 40 points, breaking a school record with 11 made threes against the Spartans. Booth was named SoCon Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and All-SoCon First Team. Dylan Faulkner earned All-SoCon First Team and All-Defensive Team honors.

Booth is the best three-point shooter in the country, leading the nation in makes (119), and is two shy of breaking the school record. Faulker and Booth are the highest-scoring duo in the SoCon, combining for 38.5 points per game.

 Furman enters the game with a 19-12 record on the season and is 10-8 in SoCon play. The Paladins are coming off an 86-67 defeat in their last game at Western Carolina. Furman went 2-0 against the Bulldogs this season, winning by a combined nine points. Head coach Bob Richey is in his ninth season at Furman, leading the Paladins to the 2022-23 NCAA Tournament. Furman was picked to finish second in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll. Cooper Bowser and Tom House were all named Preseason All-Conference Players. Alex Wilkins leads the Paladins in scoring with 17.3 points per game.
