SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Brittany Bishop and Justin Stuckey earned Southern Conference Athlete of the Month honors when the league released its monthly awards for February Friday afternoon.
 
Bishop was named the SoCon's Women's Field Athlete of the Month, while Stuckey was named the league's Men's Field Athlete of the Month.
 
During the past month, Bishop won the Southern Conference title in the pole vault with a school and meet record performance of 4.06 meters. She also competed in the Music City Challenge and, against stellar competition, placed eighth with a vault of 3.93 meters.
 
Stuckey won the SoCon championship in the high jump with a leap of 2.10 meters. He also won the event at the Music City Challenge, with a height of 2.20 meters. Stuckey finished third in the high jump at the USA Jaguar Invitational with a leap of 2.13 meters.
 
Stuckey and teammate Morayo Bhadmos will both compete in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the Birmingham Cross Plex. Stuckey will compete in the high jump at 12:30 p.m., while Bhadmos will participate in the triple jump at 6:30 p.m. To follow the results, click on the following link: NCAA LIVE RESULTS.
