SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Brittany Bishop and Matt Cahoon were both honored by the Southern Conference when the league released its weekly track and field awards Wednesday afternoon.
 
Bishop was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week, while Cahoon earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
 
Bishop helped lead Samford to an impressive showing at the Georgia Tech Invite to open the outdoor season last week. Bishop finished second in the pole vault with a height of 4.00 meters in the meet.
 
Cahoon set a school record in the discus throw, placing second at the Georgia Tech Invite. He had a toss of 51.27 meters.
 
Samford will travel to Starkville, Miss., to compete in the Bulldog Relays, March 25-26.
