ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Samford men's basketball team (20-10, 10-8 SoCon) will open play in the Southern Conference Tournament by taking on the UNCG Spartans (17-13, 9-9 SoCon) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Mar. 5, at 7:30 p.m. (CT) in Asheville, N.C. The game can be seen live on ESPN+ with Pete Yanity (PBP), Terrence Oglesby (Color) and Erin Summers (Sideline) calling the action. Live stats will also be available at www.SoConSports.com.
- Samford has won nine of its last 11 games. The Bulldogs have won 20 games in the regular season for the first time since 1998-99 and just the third time in its Division I history. This is the first 20-win season at all for Samford since 2016-17.
- Samford and UNCG are meeting for the 32nd time, with the Spartans holding a 20-11 series lead. The teams split the two meetings this season, with each team winning at home. UNCG took the first game in the Greensboro Coliseum, 61-58, and Samford won the game in the Pete Hanna Center by a score of 55-49.

- Samford is coming into the game off a 70-57 loss at Chattanooga last Saturday afternoon. In the loss, Samford was led by Jermaine Marshall with 17 points and eight rebounds. Ques Glover scored 12 points, while Logan Dye added 11 points for the Bulldogs.
- Samford has been led in scoring so far this season by sophomore guard Ques Glover, who ranks third in the Southern Conference with an average of 19.1 points per game. Glover ranks second in the SoCon in assists per game (4.4) and seventh in free throw percentage (.800). Jermaine Marshall ranks third in the SoCon in rebounding, grabbing 8.1 boards per contest.
- UNCG enters Thursday afternoon's game with a mark of 17-13 overall and 9-9 in SoCon play. The Spartans are coming off a 73-69 loss to ETSU Sunday afternoon. UNCG was led by Kobe Langley with 21 points in the loss.
- UNCG has been led so far this season by De'Monte Buckingham, averaging 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
- UNCG is averaging 65.0 points per game so far this season. The Spartans are giving up 64.7 points per contest.
- Samford is averaging 75.2 points per game while also giving up 74.3 entering the SoCon Tournament.
- Samford has a record of 2-0 in neutral-site games so far this season. The Bulldogs defeated North Carolina A&T and McNeese State at the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Fla.

The Akron transfer has been a force on the wing for the Bulldogs, averaging 12.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
- Ques Glover (6-0, 180, So.) has made a remarkable impact on the Bulldogs so far this year, ranking No. 3 in the SoCon in scoring at 19.1 points per game while ranking second in the SoCon in assists at 4.4 per game. The Knoxville, Tenn., native, scored a career-high 30 points in Samford's game at The Citadel.
- Jaden Campbell (6-5, 195, Soph.) has been a major spark for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.2 points per game, ranking 27th in the Southern Conference. The Brampton, Ontario native had a big game in Samford's win over Furman, contributing 12 points to the win.
- Jacob Tryon (6-11, 220, Sr.) has continued to be a presence down low for Samford this season. Tryon is currently tied for fifth in the Southern Conference in blocked shots per game, averaging 1.1 per contest. He had four blocked shots in the Bulldogs' 65-60 overtime win over Wofford.
- In the last meeting between Samford and UNCG, played on Feb. 19 in the Pete Hanna Center, Samford earned a 55-49 win over the Spartans. Ques Glover led Samford with 20 points in the win. Logan Dye tallied 13 points for the Bulldogs. Jaden Campbell scored nine points, while Jermaine Marshall had seven points and 11 rebounds. UNCG was led by Kobe Langley with 13 points and eight rebounds. Bas Leyte also had 13 points for the Spartans.
