SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's tennis awards Tuesday afternoon.
In two matches last week, Van Rensburg went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles, in leading the Bulldogs to wins over in-state rivals Troy (7-0) and Jacksonville State (6-1).
Against Troy, she earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anastasiia Khokhlova at No. 1 singles. She and partner,
Alexis Lopez took down Khokhlova and Andrea Whiting, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles.
In the win over Jacksonville State, she again won at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-3, 7-6 win over Romane Mosse. In doubles, Van Rensburg and Lopez defeated Mosse and Kennedi Jones, 7-5, on the No. 1 court.
Samford will play Appalachian State Wednesday in Charleston, S.C. The match is set for an 11 a.m. (CT) start.
