Women’s Tennis Lands Three On All-SoCon Teams

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Three members of the Samford women's tennis team were named to the All-Southern Conference teams when the league released its postseason awards Wednesday afternoon.
 
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg was named first team All-SoCon in singles, while Samantha Nanere earned second team All-SoCon honors in singles. In doubles, Van Rensburg and partner, Alexis Lopez earned second team All-SoCon distinction.
 
This season, Van Rensburg posted an impressive record of 16-4, all at the No. 1 position. She finished the regular season with a mark of 5-2 in Southern Conference matches. She ended the season on a hot streak, posting a record of 8-2 in her last 10 singles matches.
 
Nanere went 11-9 this season, mostly at the No. 2 position. She was 10-8 and No. 2 and 1-1 at the No. 3 spot. She posted a record of 4-3 in SoCon action this season.
 
Van Rensburg and Lopez went 11-8, all at the No. 1 doubles spot this season. The pair went 3-4 in conference play during the campaign.
 
The Samford women's tennis team, playing as the No. 3 seed, will open play in the Southern Conference Tournament by taking on Western Carolina on Thursday, April 21 at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
