SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Brittany Bishop and Matt Cahoon were both honored when the Southern Conference released its monthly awards for March Friday morning.
 
Bishop was named the league's Women's Field Athlete of the Month, while Cahoon was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Month.
 
In the month of March, Bishop had two outstanding performances in the pole vault. She placed second in the event at the Georgia Tech Yellowjacket Invitational with a vault of 4.00 meters. She also competed in the Bulldog Relays, hosted by Mississippi State, placing third with a personal-best height of 4.05 meters.
 
Cahoon set a personal best in the discus throw in the Georgia Tech Yellowjacket Invitational at 51.27 meters, finishing second. In the same meet, he placed fifth in the javelin throw with a performance of 66.57 meters. He also competed in the javelin throw in the Bulldog Relays, coming in 10^th at 57.66 meters.
 
Samford will compete in the UAB Multi/Invite, Friday and Saturday.
