BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's and women's track and field teams swept the 2022 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships, winning a third-straight championship for the women's team and a second-straight title for the men.
The Samford men's team won its title with 226 points, to Western Carolina's 149 points. VMI came in third with 123 points, followed by Furman (95), ETSU (87), The Citadel (74), Wofford (42) and UNC Greensboro (15).
On the women's side, Samford took the championship with 224 points, with ETSU coming in second at 138. Western Carolina placed third with 133 points, followed by Wofford (117), Furman (94), The Citadel (46), Mercer (31), Chattanooga (21) and VMI (14).
Individually, the Samford women's team won seven individual Southern Conference Championships.
Hannah Daffin (hammer throw, shot put),
Erin Long (javelin),
Brittany Bishop (pole vault),
Mia Milasinovic (heptathlon),
Morayo Bhadmos (triple jump) and
Makenzie Hooton (high jump) won titles for the women's squad.
The men's team earned eight individual titles.
Seth Wolfe (hammer throw),
Jed Sisco (pole vault),
Ashton Domingue (javelin),
Ty Kimberlin (long jump and decathlon),
Benjamin Garner (3000-meter steeplechase) and
Michael McMahan (110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles) won the men's individual championships.
Samford will next compete in the Tennessee Challenge on May 7 in Knoxville, Tenn.
