BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 25
th-ranked Samford soccer team will play host to Army Thursday at 12 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field and will take on West Virginia Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Auburn.
The Bulldogs, ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll for the first time in program history, enter the week with a record of 3-0-1. Samford last played on Sunday afternoon, battling 12th-ranked Ole Miss to a 0-0 tie at Shauna Yelton Field. The team also earned a 4-1 win over Murray State last Thursday evening.
Goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, while
Kylie Gazza was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Army is currently has a record of 1-2-1 on the young season. The Black Knights played twice last week, falling at Air Force (2-1) and Colorado College (3-1). This will mark the first meeting ever between Samford and Army in soccer.
West Virginia enters the week with a record of 2-1-1. The Mountaineers have defeated Saint Joseph's (5-0) and Saint Francis (3-0) and have tied Indiana (0-0) and fallen to 10
th-ranked Penn State (2-0). West Virginia will take on Auburn Thursday at 7:30 p.m. This will also be the first meeting between Samford and West Virginia in soccer.
