BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team battled 14
th-ranked Auburn, with the game ending in a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon at Shauna Yelton Field.
With the tie, Samford's record moves to 3-2-3 on the season, while Auburn is now 4-0-4.

Todd Yelton said. "They're fantastic, they've worked their socks off. That's a really, really good team, I have great respect for (Auburn head coach) Karen (Hoppa)."
Samford's
Taylor Yount got the scoring started with a goal off an assist from
Caroline Donovan in the 13
th minute of the match. Auburn answered when Maddie Simpson scored off an assist from Anna Haddock in the 15
th minute of the contest to knot the score at 1-1.
Samford senior goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan saved five shots on the day, including a penalty kick by Haddock in the 77
th minute. The Bulldogs also had a good chance late to take the lead, but
Mary Raymond's shot was saved by Auburn's Maddie Prohaska in the 89
th minute.
Individually for Samford,
Layton Glisson led the team in shots with four, followed by two from Yount. Haddock led Auburn with seven shots.
The Bulldogs will next play at Tennessee Tech on Thursday, Sept. 15. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start. To follow all Samford games this season online, click on the following link:
