BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback at cross-town rival UAB Thursday evening at PNC Field.
With the loss, Samford falls to 3-2-2 on the young season. UAB improves to an identical 3-2-2 with the victory.
The lone goal was scored by the Blazers in the 17
th minute of the match. Jessica Wheeler netted the eventual game-winning goal to give UAB a 1-0 lead.
Despite falling in the contest, Samford outshot UAB, 11-2. UAB had five corner kicks, to three for the Bulldogs.
Ella Simpson led Samford with three shots, with two coming on goal.
The Bulldogs will next host 14
