Soccer To Play At Furman Thursday, Host The Citadel Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford University soccer team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to play at Furman Thursday night at 6 p.m. (CT) at Stone Stadium and will play host to The Citadel Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
 
Samford and Furman will meet for the 23rd time, with Samford holding a 12-6-4 series advantage. Last season, the teams met in Greenville, with Samford earning a 4-0 win over the Paladins. There has often been a lot on the line when Samford and Furman have met, as the teams have finished as the top two teams in the SoCon six times. Samford and The Citadel have met 20 previous times, with Samford holding a 17-2-1 series lead. Last season, the teams met twice, with The Citadel winning the regular-season meeting, 1-0, but Samford earning a 2-0 win in the SoCon Tournament, with both games being held at Shauna Yelton Field.

Samford enters the week with a record of 7-3-3 overall and 3-1-0 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-0 win at UNC Greensboro Sunday afternoon. Samford has been led offensively by Kyla Reynolds and Mary Raymond with four goals and two assists for 10 total points each. Taylor Yount's 27 career goals rank third in school history, and her 67 points are tied for fifth in program history. Both totals are the most of any active Southern Conference player. Lindsay Origliasso and Kylie Gazza are both tied for the most career games in program history with 92 each.
 
Furman enters the game with a mark of 5-3-4 overall and 1-0-3 in the Southern Conference. The Paladins are coming off a 1-1 draw with Chattanooga Sunday afternoon. Furman has been led so far this season by Valentina Mosquera with five goals and one assist for a total of 11 points. Norah Roller has also netted three goals so far this season for the Paladins. Addison Corn has started every game in goal so far this season for Furman, saving 64 shots and posting a 1.09 goals against average.
 
The Citadel, which hosts ETSU Thursday, comes into the week with a mark of 3-4-5 overall and 0-3-1 in SoCon action. The Citadel fell at VMI last Sunday by a score of 3-2. For the season, The Citadel has been led offensively by Ariana Paez with three goals and nine assists for 15 total points.
