GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Samford women's cross-country team placed 10
th at the NCAA South Regional Friday morning at Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida.
Samford scored 292 points to place 10
th in the 29-team race, with seven of the nine teams finishing ahead of Samford coming from Power 5 conferences. The Bulldogs finished ahead of four teams from Power 5 leagues, with Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Miami and Georgia all finishing behind Samford. Tennessee won the race with 61 points.
"I'm so proud of the ladies for an incredible team effort this morning," Samford head cross-country coach
Chad Balyo said. "Our goal was to improve our regional ranking. For them to sneak in the top 10 for the second time in program history is a great accomplishment and a testament to the love and toughness they displayed all season for each other."
Individually for Samford,
Sinkenesh Parker placed 45
th out of 214 runners with a time of 20:05.8.
Katie Keller came in 53
rd, running the race in 20:15.1.
Edie Smith finished 60
th at 20:24.6, while
Adeline Haisch placed 64
th with a time of 20:28.0.
Harper McGowan came in 70
th with a time of 20:34.4.
Macie Pfeuffer placed 108
th with a time of 20:58.9, while
Gabbie Hoots came in 112
th at 21:02.9.
