BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's cross country team had seven individuals named to the All-SoCon team after the Southern Conference Championship meet on Saturday. The women's side finished in second place in the conference while the men's side captured fourth place.
The Bulldogs were led by
Adeline Haisch and
Sinkenesh Parker who finished in sixth and seventh place. Their times of 17:03.9 and 17:08.6 respectively were career bests for the seniors and earned them spots on the All-SoCon first team by finishing within the top seven spots. They were followed by
Edie Smith and
Katie Keller who each earned second-team conference honors by finishing 10th and 12th.
Felicity Hamilton was the fifth runner to finish for Samford, in 16th overall, but had the best placement among freshman runners which earned the Houston, Texas native SoCon Freshman of the Year honors.
The men's team had three runners finish inside the top 25,
Andrew McGinnis,
William Jordan, and
David Brown, to help land the Dogs in fourth as a team. The fourth and fifth place runners for Samford went to
Arthur Langley and
Stephen Jones who earned all-freshman team recognition with their finish in their first SoCon Championship meet.
Both Samford cross country programs are back in action on Nov. 15 when they head to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the NCAA South Regional.
