GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. LOUISIANA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford men's basketball team will return home to play host to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Samford and Louisiana have met 10 previous times, with the Ragin' Cajuns winning all 10 previous meetings. The most recent meeting came last season, with Samford falling by a score of 75-58 in Lafayette, La.
 
Samford enters the week with a mark of 5-2 on the young season. The Bulldogs hosted a Multi-Team Event last week, earning three wins. Samford defeated Alabama State (99-67), Merrimack (79-71) and North Carolina A&T (101-83) in the event.
 
So far this season, Samford has been led by junior Achor Achor, averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Senior Jermaine Marshall has averaged 12.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while junior A.J. Staton-McCray is scoring 10.6 points per game and grabbing 4.1 boards per contest.
 
Samford head coach Bucky McMillan is in his fourth season in charge of the program. Entering this week, he has a collegiate career record of 53-37. Last season, he led Samford to a share of its first Southern Conference regular-season title.  
 
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns enter Thursday night's game with a record of 5-2. They played host to Loyola-New Orleans Monday night, earning a 78-54 win. Louisiana has been led so far this season by Kobe Julien, averaging 18.6 points per game. Themus Fulks scores 13.2 points per game for the Ragin' Cajuns. Joe Charles is scoring 12.1 points per game and grabbing a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game.
 
Both teams have turned in impressive offensive numbers so far this season. Louisiana is averaging 82.9 points per game, while Samford is scoring 82.0 points per contest.
 
Following Thursday night's game, the Bulldogs will remain at home to play host to LaGrange Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
