GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. ALABAMA A&M (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University men's basketball team will play host to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Monday, Dec. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
Samford and Alabama A&M have met seven previous times, with Samford holding a 6-1 series lead. The teams played last season, with Samford earning an 84-64 win on the road. Current Samford head coach Bucky McMillan has a mark of 2-1 against Alabama A&M.
 
Samford enters the week with a mark of 7-2 on the young season. The Bulldogs hosted LaGrange on Sunday, Dec. 3 in the Pete Hanna Center. Samford earned a 128-82 victory in the game. Samford has won its last seven-straight games.
 
 So far this season, Samford has been led by junior Achor Achor, averaging 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Junior A.J. Staton-McCray is scoring 12.0 points per game and grabbing 4.2 boards per contest. Rylan Jones is averaging a team-high 4.3 assists per game.
 
Entering Monday's game, Samford ranks in the top 10 in the nation in several categories. Samford ranks in the top 10 in fastbreak points per game (T-3rd-21.22 pg.), steals per game (7th-11.3 pg.), assists per game (T-6th-20.0) and turnovers forced per game (10th-17.56 pg.).
 
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs enter Monday night's game with a record of 1-7. Alabama A&M most recently played at Georgia Tech on Saturday, falling to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 70-49.
 
So far this season, Alabama A&M has been led by Dailin Smith, averaging 12.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Omari Peek is scoring 8.8 points per game, while grabbing 2.8 rebounds per contest. Caleb Blackwell leads Alabama A&M in assists, dishing out 2.8 per game.
 
Following Monday night's game, the Bulldogs will remain at home to wrap up their nine-game homestand by hosting Belmont on Saturday, Dec. 16. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
