GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT OLE MISS (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play at Ole Miss Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Oxford, Miss., and will host fifth-ranked Alabama Sunday at 5 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
 
Samford and Ole Miss will meet for the fifth time, with Ole Miss holding a 2-0-2 series advantage. The Bulldogs and Rebels last met on Aug. 28, 2022, with the game ending in a scoreless tie at Shauna Yelton Field.

The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will meet for the ninth time, with Alabama holding a 5-3 series lead. The last meeting in the series came on Sept. 2, 2021, with Samford earning a 1-0 win in Tuscaloosa.
 
Samford enters the week with a record of 2-1-1 so far this season. Samford has outscored its last two opponents, 10-0, with a 6-0 win over Jacksonville State last Thursday night and a 4-0 victory over Oklahoma on Sunday.  In the win over JSU, Nikki Bario led Samford with two goals and an assist.  Against Oklahoma, Kyla Reynolds netted two goals to lead the Bulldogs. Samford goalkeeper, Zoe Clevely did not allow a goal in 149:42 in the two games last week. For her efforts, she was named the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Ole Miss has a mark of 2-1 on the young season. The Rebels have earned wins over Southern Miss (2-0) and Southeastern Louisiana (3-1), and suffered a setback at 20th-ranked Memphis (1-0).  Kelly Brady leads the Rebels with two goals so far this season. Jenna Kemp, Evie Ewing and Hailey Cloud have one goal each for Ole Miss.
 
Alabama, who hosts Miami Thursday night, has a record of 4-0 entering this week. The Crimson Tide has earned wins over DePaul (2-0), UAB (1-0), Lipscomb (3-1) and Memphis (2-1). Alabama has been led so far this season by Gianna Paul with three goals.
