Butler Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior outside hitter Gracie Lynn Butler was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Butler totaled 50 kills over three matches last week while posting an average of 4.55 kills per set, both marks that led the team. She also recorded 28 digs, the second-highest tally on the squad.

The Hazel Green, Ala. native amassed a career-high 23 kills with eight digs in the Bulldogs' 3-1 home victory over UAB on Sept. 13. She also logged her third double-double of the season against No. 24 Auburn on Saturday, posting 14 kills and 11 digs.

Butler comes into the week ranking second in the SoCon in both total kills (198) and kills per set (4.60).

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 22 when they host UNCG in their SoCon opener. First serve from the Pete Hanna Center is set for 7:00 p.m. (CST).
