Bulldogs To Open SoCon Play By Hosting WCU Thursday, Travelling To Wofford Sunday

GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. WESTERN CAROLINA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford University soccer team will open Southern Conference play by hosting Western Carolina Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field, and the Bulldogs will play at Wofford Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).
 
At Thursday night's home game against Western Carolina, Big Spoon Creamery will have free ice cream for the first 25 fans in attendance. There will also be a pizza truck on hand from Pazzo's, and we will have a few championship t-shirts to give away as well.

The Bulldogs and Catamounts will meet for the 18th time, with Samford holding a 14-2-1 series lead. Last season, the teams met in Cullowhee, N.C., with Samford earning a 1-0 victory. Samford and Wofford have met 18 previous times, with the Bulldogs holding a 14-0-4 series lead. Samford won at Wofford last season by a score of 2-1.
 
Samford enters the week with a record of 4-2-3 on the season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-0 loss at Harvard last Thursday night. Samford has been led offensively by Kyla Reynolds with two goals and two assists for a total of six points. Nikki Bario has two goals and one assist for five points. Mia Wehby leads the team in assists with three. 
 
Western Carolina enters the game with a record of 3-2-3 on the young season. The Catamounts are coming off a 4-0 win at Presbyterian last Thursday evening. Western Carolina has been led so far this season by Naya Marcil and Isabella DeMarco with five goals and three assists each, good for 13 points apiece, sharing the team lead in all three categories.
 
Wofford has a record of 2-5-2 so far this season. The Terriers, who play at VMI Thursday night, defeated Radford by a score of 2-1 last Friday. Megan Childress has led the Terriers so far this season with three goals and one assist for a total of seven points.
