BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 2023 NFL campaign kicked off over this month with three former members of the Samford football team on active rosters and one on a practice squad. 
  
Past Samford standouts James Bradberry is on the Eagles, Nick Williams is with the Chargers and Michael Peirce plays for the Ravens. Montrell Washington is a member of the Chiefs' practice squad. 
   
James Bradberry (Samford - 2012-15)
Week 3 Schedule: Eagles at Buccaneers (Monday, 6:15 p.m. CT)
Former Bulldog great and All-Pro cornerback James Bradberry did not play in the Eagles' Week Two 34-28 win over the Vikings.
 
Nick Williams (Samford - 2008-12)
Week 3 Schedule: Chargers at Bengals (Monday, 7:15 p.m. CT)
After signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in the offseason, Williams tallied a pair of tackles as the Chargers fell 27-24 to the Titans.
    
Michael Pierce (Samford - 2013-15)
Week 3 Schedule: Colts at Ravens (Sunday, 12:00 p.m. CT)
After missing most of the 2022 season with an injury, Michael Pierce collected a pair of tackles in the Ravens' Week Two victory over the Bengals.
   
Montrell Washington (Samford - 2017-21)
Week 3 Schedule: Bears at Chiefs (Sunday, 3:25 p.m. CT)
After being released by the Broncos during the preseason, Montrell Washington was signed to the Chiefs practice squad. The Chiefs downed the Jaguars by a score of 17-9.
