GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. VMI (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will travel to Lexington, Va., to take on the VMI Keydets Friday at 2 p.m. (CT) at Patchin Field.
 
Samford and VMI have met 12 previous times, with Samford owning a 12-0 series lead. In those games, the Bulldogs have outscored the Keydets, 48-1. Last season, Samford earned a 3-0 win over VMI in a game played at Shauna Yelton Field. All 12 previous meetings have come since VMI entered the Southern Conference in 2014.
 
Samford enters this game with a record of 6-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs opened Southern Conference play with a 2-0 loss at defending champion Western Carolina. The Bulldogs then earned a 1-0 win at Chattanooga, a 4-2 win over Wofford, a 1-0 win at The Citadel, and then tied Furman, 1-1.

For Samford so far this season, the Bulldogs have been led by Ella Simpson with four goals and one assist for a team-high nine points. Brooklyn Miller has two goals and three assists for seven points. Sam De Luca and Fleming Dean have three goals each. Layton Glisson has two goals and two assists. Caroline Donovan and Sarah Holland have a goal and an assist each and Whitaker Buchanan has four assists.

In goal, Peyton Hull has played 843 minutes with a 1.81 goals against average, allowing 17 goals and saving 39 shots.
 
VMI enters the game with a mark of 5-7-1 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play. The Keydets are coming off a 1-0 loss at Mercer last Sunday.

VMI has been led so far this season by Riley Boucher with five goals, while Barrett Callejo has four goals on the season. Whitney Tracy has started all 13 games in goal, posting a 2.09 Goals Against Average.
