SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's
Gracie Lynn Butler and
Lexi Thatcher both earned weekly awards from the Southern Conference when the league office released its weekly volleyball awards Monday afternoon.
Butler was named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week, while Thatcher earned Setter of the Week honors.
In two matches last week, Butler tallied 38 kills and 24 digs. In Friday night's win at The Citadel, she had 18 kills and 12 digs, and then she tallied 20 kills and 12 digs Saturday evening at UNC Greensboro. For the week, she had a .437 hitting percentage.
Thatcher had a total of 90 assists in Samford's two matches last week. She had 41 assists in the win at The Citadel and then contributed 49 assists at UNCG.
Samford will return home to play host to the Wofford Terriers on Friday, Oct. 25. The match is set for a 6:30 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
