BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –The honors continue to roll in for Samford graduate linebacker
Noah Martin. On Tuesday, he was named the NCAA FCS Football National Defensive Player of the Week.
Earlier in the week, the Chattanooga native earned Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Martin turned in a stellar performance in Saturday's 55-35 win over 7
th-ranked Mercer. He was responsible for a pair of turnovers, both coming in the fourth quarter. He recovered a fumble and later intercepted a pass that he returned 26 yards for a touchdown.
In addition to the turnovers, Martin led Samford with 10 tackles in the game. This marks the fourth time in the six games Samford has played that Martin has had double-digit tackles. He currently ranks eighth in the nation in tackles per game, averaging 9.7 per contest.
Next up, Samford will travel to Charleston, S.C., to take on The Citadel Bulldogs this Saturday. The game is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Johnson Hagood Stadium.
