BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will travel for a pair of Southern Conference matches this week, playing at Western Carolina Thursday at 5 p.m. (CT) and at ETSU Friday, also at 6 p.m. (CT).
Samford enters the week with a record of 12-8 overall and 6-4 in Southern Conference play. Last week, the Bulldogs dropped a pair of matches to Wofford (3-1) and Chattanooga (3-0).
For the season, Samford has been led offensively by
Kaleigh Meritt with 272 kills, and she ranks third in the Southern Conference in kills per set at 3.63.
Gracie Lynn Butler has 244 kills, while
Ally Cordes has 174 kills on the season. Additionally,
Kate Wonus has tallied 135 kills so far this season.
Also,
Lexi Thatcher leads the team and the Southern Conference in assists per set, averaging 10.68 per set.
Kate Morgan leads Samford in digs with 302 on the season. She ranks eighth in the SoCon in digs per set, averaging 3.95 digs per set. Behind Morgan, Merritt has contributed 218 digs, while Cordes and Butler have tallied 186 digs apiece.
Samford and Western Carolina have met 42 previous times, with Samford owning a 33-9 series lead. Earlier this season, the teams met in the Pete Hanna Center, with Samford earning a 3-0 win.
Samford and ETSU have played 26 previous times, with Samford leading the series, 14-12. Earlier this season, Samford earned a 3-0 win in the Pete Hanna Center over the Bucs.
