GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT FLORIDA STATE (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play at No. 1 seeded Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 4 p.m. (CT) in Tallahassee, Fla.

Samford and Florida State have met four previous times, with FSU winning each of the four meetings. The last time the teams played came in 2019, with FSU winning, 6-0 in Tallahassee. This will mark the third time the teams have played in the NCAA Tournament, with the previous meetings coming in 2011 and 2016.
 
Samford enters this game with a record of 12-6-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs earned wins over UNC Greensboro and Furman to advance to the SoCon Tournament finals where they earned a 1-0 win over regular-season champion Western Carolina.

For Samford so far this season, Layton Glisson leads the team with seven goals to go along with four assists for 18 points. Whitaker Buchanan has three goals and nine assists. Sam De Luca and Ella Simpson have five goals each. Fleming Dean has netted four goals so far this season. In goal for Samford, Peyton Hull has played 1460:40, posting a 1.42 goals against average.

Samford has an all-time record of 1-7-1 in NCAA Tournament games. The Bulldogs advanced on penalty kicks at Vanderbilt in 2005, and the team earned a 2-0 win at Auburn in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

Florida State enters Friday night's game with a record of 14-2-3 overall and 7-2-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Seminoles won the ACC Tournament with a 3-2 win over North Carolina.

Florida State has been led so far this season by Taylor Huff with 12 goals and nine assists for 33 points. Jordynn Dudley has six goals and nine assists, while Wrianna Hudson has eight goals and five assists. Addie Todd has been the main goalkeeper for the Seminoles with a 0.92 goals against average.
