GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. FURMAN (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play host to the Furman Paladins in the Southern Conference Tournament semifinals Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
 
Samford and Furman have played 24 previous times, and Samford leads the series, 12-6-6. Earlier this season, the teams played to a 1-1 draw at Shauna Yelton Field on Oct. 6. This will mark the eighth time Samford and Furman have met in the SoCon Tournament and Samford is 4-3 in the previous seven meetings, with the last meeting coming in the 2021 title game, a game Samford won, 4-2.

Samford enters this game with a record of 10-6-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs advanced to the SoCon semifinals with a 2-1 win over UNC Greensboro on a late goal by Layton Glisson Friday evening.

For Samford so far this season, Glisson leads the team with seven goals to go along with four assists for 18 points. Whitaker Buchanan has three goals and eight assists for 14 points. Sam De Luca, Fleming Dean and Ella Simpson have four goals each, while Brooklyn Miller has added three goals so far this season. In goal for Samford, Peyton Hull has played 1280:40, posting a 1.62 goals against average.

Samford has an all-time record of 25-9-5 in SoCon Tournament games. Samford has won the tournament in 2011, 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2022.

Furman enters Sunday's game with a record of 10-6-3 overall and 5-2-2 in Southern Conference play. The Paladins reached the semifinals with a 2-1 win over ETSU Friday evening.

Furman has been led so far this season by Tara Katz with seven goals. Jenny Jacobson has tallied four goals for the Paladins.
