GAME NOTES -- WEST GEORGIA at SAMFORD (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team wraps up play at their Thanksgiving multi-team event on Friday as they host West Georgia at the Pete Hanna Center at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs have won two tight games in the event so far and enter with an overall record of 6-2 while West Georgia has come out on the wrong end of their two close match ups and sit at 0-8 on the season.

The Samford Bulldogs are coming off an 84-76 win over Utah Valley Wednesday night and extended the Bulldog's home-win streak to 23 games. Samford has used 14-0 and 12-0 runs to close their past two games against NDSU and Utah Valley for comeback victories.

Offensively, the Bulldogs sit 3rd in the nation in scoring at 93.8 points per game while defensively they force the 5th most turnovers per game with 19.1 per game. The Bulldogs shooting from deep has improved as the season has gone on and now sit in the top 15 in three-point makes per game.

Rylan Jones is averaging 18.5 ppg in the two MTE games this week and is 7th in the country in assists. Jaden Brownell scored 22 points against Utah Valley and is leading the team in scoring at 16.1 ppg while Josh Holloway is fourth in the nation in steals with 20 and had 7 in the previous two games combined.

West Georgia enters the game with an 0-8 record so far on the season. The Wolves are in their first season as a Division I, joining the ASUN from the GSC in Division II. UWG has two players averaging double digits, led by Shelton Williams-Dryden at 16.8 ppg. Head coach Dave Moore is in his seventh season at West Georgia and led the Wolves to a 27-6 record last season and a GSC title.
