GAME NOTES -- SAMFORD at ARIZONA (PDF)

TUSCON, Ariz. - The Samford men's basketball team heads west as they prepare for a matchup against perineal power Arizona tomorrow. The Bulldogs enter the game on a five-game winning streak and a 9-2 record overall while the Wildcats enter at 4-5 on the season.

The Samford Bulldogs have won five games in a row after a 72-47 win at home against Austin Peay on Dec. 8.  The win took the Bulldogs home winning streak to 25 straight as Samford faces Arizona for the second time after falling 86-57 in the previous meeting in 2006.

The Bulldogs are the second-highest scoring team in the nation at 90.5 ppg and Trey Fort has scored in double-figures in four of his last five games. The Bulldogs are a top-10 three-point team, making 11.5 per game. Jaden Brownell leads the team in scoring at 14.7 ppg and is one of the most efficient scorers in the country.

Defensively, Samford is third in the country in forced turnovers at 18.2 caused per game. Rylan Jones is top-15 in the country in assists, with 68 in 11 games this season. Samford continues to get good production off the bench, as ten players average double-digit minutes while Riley Allenspach, Lukas Walls, and Josh Holloway all are averaging over 6.5 ppg off the bench on the season. Collin Holloway is 49 points away from reaching the 1,000 career point mark.

Arizona enters the game with a 4-5 record on their season beating up on non-power conference sides but are 0-5 against power-four sides. Arizona is coming off a 57-54 defeat against UCLA on a neutral court in Phoenix. The Wildcats have three players averaging double-figures, led by Caleb Love at 13.3 ppg. Tommy Lloyd is in his fourth season as head coach, leading the Wildcats to top-2 seeds in the NCAA Tournament the previous three seasons. Arizona was picked fifth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll, and Caleb Love was selected as a Preseason All-Big 12 First Team member.
