Bulldog Track & Field Concludes Split Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In the final weekend before before championship season, the Samford track and field teams hosted Friday's Bulldog Invite, and Saturday's Bulldog Open at the Birmingham Crossplex while also sending athletes to the Vanderbilt-hosted Music City Challenge in Nashville.

Throughout the weekend, 13 different Bulldogs brought home top-three finishes. Samford's first-place finishers included Hannah Daffin (Women's weight throw, 17.72m), Titus Moore (Men's 60m Hurdles, 7.79) Ian Jones (Men's Triple Jump, 14.42m), Bella Edwards (Women's 3000 Meter, 10:11.00) and Brenden Vanderpool (Men's Pole Vault, 5.45m).

On the men's side at the Music City Challenge, Zephaniah Carico-McLennan placed second in the Men's 800m with a time of 1:51.22 to join Moore as the only two Bulldogs to medal in Nashville.

At the Bulldog Open on Saturday, Arthur Chitty placed second in the Men's High Jump with a leap of 1.95 meters. In the 60 Meter Hurdles, Landon Wright picked up a third-place finish with a time of 8.30 seconds. Rounding out the men's top three finishes Jack Harchelroad ran a time of 8:49.11 to place third in the Men's 3000 Meter.

On the women's side of the Bulldog Open, Ellison Chadwick placed second in the Women's long jump with a distance of 5.59 meters. The Bulldog trio of Amiel Dabney (Women's 60m Hurdle, 8.60), Macie Pfeuffer (Women's 3000 Meter, 10:31.55) and Dorsey Parker (Women's High Jump, 1.65m) each placed third in their events.

Samford will now turn its attention to the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Feb. 16-17 before the Southern Conference Championship on Feb. 24-25 in Lexington, Virginia.
