GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. FURMAN (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford men's basketball team will return home to play host to the Furman Paladins Wednesday night at the Pete Hanna Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
 
Samford and Furman have met 36 previous times, with Furman owning a 26-10 series lead. The teams met earlier this season, with Furman taking a 78-68 win in Greenville, S.C.
 
Samford enters Wednesday night's game with a mark of 23-4 overall and 12-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs most recently played at Mercer last Saturday, with the Bears coming away with an 88-84 win over the Bulldogs. Samford has won 23 of its last 25 games.
 
Entering Wednesday night's game, Samford is led by junior Achor Achor, averaging 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Junior A.J. Staton-McCray is averaging 12.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Rylan Jones leads the team in assists, dishing out 5.1 assists per contest. Jermaine Marshall averages 11.1 points per game for Samford.
 
Marshall enters Wednesday night's game just 13 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark for his college career. He has scored 944 points at Samford and 43 points at Akron for a career total of 987.
 
Entering this week, the Bulldogs rank second in the nation in three-point percentage, making 40.4 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc. Samford also ranks in the top 10 in the nation in scoring offense (4th-87.8), fastbreak points per game (T-7th-16.07), steals per game (5th-10.7), bench points per game (5th-35.15), assists per game (6th-18.3), turnovers forced per game (6th-17.30) and winning percentage (8th-85.2).
 
The Furman Paladins enter Wednesday night's game with a record of 15-12 overall and 9-4 in Southern Conference play. The Paladins most recently hosted Chattanooga on Sunday, earning an 82-65 win over the Mocs.
 
Furman has been led so far this season by Marcus Foster, averaging 18.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. J.P. Pegues is averaging 16.5 points and 4.8 assists per game. Alex Williams scores 15.1 points per game for the Paladins.
