GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT UNCG (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford men's basketball team will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take on the UNC Greensboro Spartans Thursday evening at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Greensboro Coliseum.
 
Samford and UNC Greensboro are two of the top teams in the Southern Conference this season, with Samford in first place with a 9-1 SoCon record and UNCG in second at 8-2 in league play. The programs have met 35 previous times, with the Spartans holding a 20-15 series lead. The teams met earlier this season in Birmingham, with Samford taking a 79-70 win.
 
Samford enters Thursday night's game with a mark of 20-3 overall and 9-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs most recently played at Chattanooga Saturday, picking up a 78-56 win over the Mocs. Samford has won 20 of its last 21 games.
 
Entering Thursday night's game, Samford is led by junior Achor Achor, averaging 15.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Junior A.J. Staton-McCray is averaging 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Rylan Jones leads the team in assists, dishing out 5.3 assists per contest.
 
Entering this game, the Bulldogs rank fourth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 87.8 points per game. Samford also ranks in the top 10 in the nation in three-point percentage (2nd-40.4), fastbreak points per game (4th-17.17), steals per game (5th-11.0), bench points per game (5th-35.30), assists per game (T-6th-18.6),  turnovers forced per game (8th-17.39) and winning percentage (T-4th-87.0).
 
Samford currently leads the Southern Conference in scoring (87.8 ppg.), scoring margin (+13.2), field goal percentage (.494), three-point field goal percentage (.404), three-pointers made per game (10.3), turnover margin (3.83), assists (18.61 pg.) and steals (10.96 pg.).
 
The UNC Greensboro Spartans enter Thursday night's game with a mark of 17-6 overall and 8-2 in Southern Conference play. The Spartans last played at Furman on Sunday, earning an 89-87 victory over the Paladins.
 
UNC Greensboro has been led so far this season by Mikeal Brown-Jones, averaging 20.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Keyshaun Langley is currently averaging 14.5 points per game for the Spartans. Donovan Atwell averages 10.9 points per game for UNCG. Kobe Langley is the team leader in assists, averaging 5.8 assists per game.
