BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team dropped a 13-0 decision in the final game of a three-game series against Longwood Saturday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
With the loss, Samford fell to 18-9 on the season. Longwood improved its record to 13-15 with the win. Despite the loss, Samford won the series from Longwood, two games to one.

Jackson Harris had one hit each.
Brooks Rice (3-3) pitched 2.2 innings, giving up six runs, just one earned, on four hits to take the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs. Rice was one of six pitchers to see action for Samford in the game.
For Longwood, Willie Havens, Blagen Pado and Logan Janney drove in two runs each. Brenton Fisher (2-2) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up no runs on one hit and striking out three batters to earn the win for the Lancers.
The teams were scoreless through the first two innings until Longwood broke through for seven runs in the third inning. The Lancers added one run in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth inning to make the final score 13-0.
Samford will next play host to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday, April 2. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Joe Lee Griffin Field.
