Oates And Cahoon Compete At Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore.– Former Samford field stars Tray Oates and Matt Cahoon competed in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Friday at historic Hayward Field.
 
Oates finished eighth in the first round of the men's pole vault event to advance to Sunday's final after clearing a height of 5.65m. Sunday's final round is slated for a 7:50 p.m. CT start time with the top three competitors making the Olympics.
 
Cahoon placed 18th in the men's javelin throw with a toss of 64.40 and could not advance to Sunday's final.
