Bulldog Cross-Country Teams Compete at Southern Showcase

Huntsville, Ala. – After a two-week break, the Samford men's and women's returned to action on Friday morning at the Jacksonville State-hosted Southern Showcase at the John Hunt Cross-Country Park.
The Samford women's squad grabbed a seventh-place finish with 225 points. Of the six teams ahead of the Bulldogs, five came from either the SEC or ACC. On the men's side, the Bulldogs finished 16th with 459 points.
Edie Smith led the women's team by placing 41st with a time of 17:39.33 in the 5K race. Adeline Haisch finished 45th at 17:45.02 while Felicity Hamilton rounded the Bulldogs in the top 50 with a time of 17:47.05 and a 46th place finish.
The men's team was led by Andrew McGinnis, who finished 82nd with a time of 25:25.68 in the 8K race.
Samford will next compete in the Florida State Pre Regional on Sept. 27 in Tallahassee, Fla. at the Apalachee Regional Park.
