SAMFORD GAME NOTES (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University volleyball team travel across town to Bartow Arena to compete in the Alabama Showdown, Thursday through Saturday.
The Bulldogs will take on Auburn Thursday at 4 p.m., South Alabama Friday at 4 p.m. and UAB Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Samford volleyball team enters this weekend with a record of 5-2 following losses to LSU (3-1) and 18th-ranked Baylor (3-0) in the Baylor Classic last weekend.
Samford was led in the loss to LSU by
Kaleigh Meritt with 18 kills and 10 digs.
Gracie Lynn Butler had nine kills and 10 digs, while
Kate Morgan had a team-high 22 digs.
Lexi Thatcher finished the match with a team-high 40 assists.
In the Baylor loss, Samford was led by Meritt with 10 kills and seven digs. Morgan had a team-high nine digs, while Thatcher tallied a team-high 20 assists.
So far this season, Samford has been led by Meritt with 102 kills and 77 digs. Butler has tallied 86 kills and 57 digs.
Through the first seven matches of the season, Thatcher leads the Southern Conference in assists per set at 10.21 per set. Meritt ranks second in the SoCon in kills per set, with a 3.78 average.
