GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. THE CITADEL (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will play host to The Citadel for this year's Shauna's House game Thursday at 4 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the 23rd time, with Samford owning a 19-2-1 series lead. Last season, Samford earned a 1-0 win over the Bulldogs in Charleston, S.C. Over the 22 previous meetings, Samford has outscored The Citadel by a combined score of 66-12.
Samford enters Thursday afternoon's game with a record of 5-2-4 overall and 2-0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs played at Wofford on Friday, Oct. 26, with the Bulldogs earning a 4-1 win over the Terriers.
Samford has been led so far this season by
Sam De Luca with six goals and one assist for 13 total points.
Martha Bishop and
Sarah Holland have had two goals and one assist each.
Brooklyn Miller has two goals, while
Caroline Smith has a team-high four assists. Samford goalkeeper
Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.82 with 44 saves in 990 minutes in goal.
The Citadel comes into Thursday afternoon's contest with a mark of 4-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play. The Bulldogs earned a 2-0 win at VMI last Sunday.
The Citadel has been led so far this season by Alice Williamson with four goals. Elisa Fuentes has three goals and one assist. The Citadel goalkeeper Zoe Santos has played in six games and started the last three games, posting a 0.99 goals against average in 362:04 in goal.
