GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT MERCER (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Samford soccer team will travel to Macon, Ga., to take on the Mercer Bears Thursday evening at 6 p.m.(CT). The game can be seen live on ESPN+.

Samford and Mercer are meeting for the 28th time, with Samford owning a 19-3-5 series lead. Last season, Samford defeated Mercer, 4-2, in Birmingham. Over the 27 previous meetings, Samford has outscored Mercer by a combined score of 54-25.
 
Samford enters Thursday night's game with a record of 7-2-5 overall and 4-0-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs played at home last Friday evening, earning a 4-2 win over VMI.

Samford has been led so far this season by Sam De Luca with 11 goals and two assists for 24 total points. She leads the SoCon and is tied for fifth in the nation in goals scored and she leads the SoCon in points. Clare Nicholas has three goals and three assists for nine points. Sarah Holland has two goals and four assists, while Mamie Carman has tallied two goals and two assists.
 
Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.93 with 51 saves in 1260 minutes in goal. She leads the SoCon and is tied for fifth in the nation with eight shutouts.
 
Mercer comes into Thursday night's game with a mark of 7-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in the SoCon. The Bears are coming off a 1-0 win over UNC Greensboro last Saturday.
 
Mercer has been led so far this season by Morganne Eikelbarner with eight goals and three assists. Payton Nutzman has seven goals and five assists. Mercer goalkeepers Lindsay Bell and Avery Parker have both started games in goal, with both players posting identical 1.50 goals against averages.
