Soccer To Host Wofford In SoCon Quarterfinals Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
 The Samford soccer team will host the Wofford Terriers in the quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament Friday at 4 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.

Samford and Wofford are meeting for the 22nd time, with Samford owning a 17-0-4 series lead. Earlier this season, Samford earned a 4-1 win in Spartanburg. Over those 21 previous meetings, Samford has outscored Wofford by a combined score of 44-7.
 
Samford enters Friday afternoon's game with a record of 10-2-5 overall and 7-0-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs played at UNCG last Sunday, winning, 2-1. Samford is unbeaten in its last 14 games. The Bulldogs earned the outright SoCon regular-season title this season.

Samford has been led so far this season by Sam De Luca with 12 goals and four assists for 28 total points. She leads the SoCon and is tied for 16th in the nation in goals scored and she leads the SoCon in points. Sarah Holland has four goals and four assists, while Martha Bishop and Mamie Carman have four goals and two assists each.

Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.82 with 70 saves in 1530 minutes in goal. She leads the SoCon and is tied for fourth in the nation in shutouts with 10.
 
Wofford comes into Friday afternoon's game with a record of 6-8-6 overall and 2-4-3 in the Southern Conference. The Terriers reached the quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over The Citadel in Tuesday's first round.

Wofford has been led so far this season by Julia Greer with four goals and three assists for 11 total points. Wofford goalkeeper Elizabeth Navola has posted a 1.03 goals against average. She has saved 95 shots in 1739 minutes in goal.
 
The winner of the Samford-Wofford game will advance to the tournament semifinals against the Chattanooga-Furman winner Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
