GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. FURMAN (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The Samford soccer team will travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Furman Paladins Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Stone Stadium. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.

Samford and Furman are meeting for the 26th time, with Samford holding a 13-6-6 series lead. The teams played twice last season, with the regular-season meeting ending in a 1-1 draw and Samford earning a 1-0 win in the SoCon Tournament. Over the 25 previous meetings, Samford has outscored The Citadel by a combined score of 40-25.  
 
Samford enters Sunday afternoon's game with a record of 6-2-4 overall and 3-0-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs played host to The Citadel Thursday evening, earning a 5-0 win at Shauna Yelton Field.

Samford has been led so far this season by Sam De Luca with eight goals and one assist for 17 total points. De Luca's eight goals are tied for second in the SoCon. Clare Nicholas has two goals and three assists for seven points. Sarah Holland has two goals and two assists, while Martha Bishop and Fleming Dean have two goals and one assist each.

Samford goalkeeper Peyton Hull is currently tied for second in the nation in shutouts with eight. She has posted a goals against average of 0.75 with 47 saves in 1080 minutes in goal.
 
Furman comes into Sunday afternoon's game with a mark of 8-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in Southern Conference play. The Paladins fell at UNC Greensboro, 1-0, Thursday evening.

Furman has been led so far this season by Maddie Massie and Norah Roller with five goals and two assists each for 12 points apiece. Furman goalkeeper Reese DeJong has posted a 0.78 goals against average in 1035 minutes in goal.
